Practice Information for Patients

Physical ExamMontgomery Family Medicine uses an electronic portal for patient communication.  The Patient Portal is a secure way for patients to receive results, recommendations & reminders.  On it patients can also see upcoming appointments, complete requested forms and questionnaires, view and pay their statement, and keep track of their medical records.   During New Patient registration you will be required to establish a personal account.

Physical ExamAll new patients are scheduled for a comprehensive physical exam upon their first visit. We ask all our patients to provide a full day notice if unable to make a scheduled appointment and will charge for any missed appointment: $25 for an office visit and $50 for an annual physical exam.  Through our Patient Portal, patients are given courtesy e-mail and phone call reminders.

PhoneOur phones are answered from 7:45 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday. As a special service, Montgomery Family Medicine employs phone nurses whose job is to answer your medical questions. Our phone nurses serve as a liaison between your physician and you. When it is necessary for them to take a message, please be patient and do not leave multiple messages.

PrescriptionsRequests for refills will not be handled after office hours or on weekends or holidays. A physician must approve all prescription refills and they are not normally called in until the end of the day. We do not refill narcotics, anxiety or sleep medicines, or antibiotics without first seeing the patient. For patients on maintenance medications treating conditions such as hypertension or diabetes, periodic rechecks will be required.
HospitalsWe are associated with the hospitalists that service all area hospitals. Should you need to be admitted, the hospitalist will handle the admission and coordination of inpatient stays. They report to us on your progress and outcomes.

Wait timesSometimes there may be a wait due to a patientís unique needs. We ask you to try to be patient with delays. 

However, it is as frustrating to us as it is to you when you are forced to wait due to the tardiness of another patient. For that reason, we reserve the right to reschedule your appointment if you are late. 

We also ask that family members wait in the lobby during the exam.  If the patient requests it, and after an initial private meeting, the doctor may elect to allow a single family member into the exam room.    

Billing & InsuranceAs a courtesy to our patients we do file insurance. However, copays and deductibles are due at the time of your office visit. Please be sure to bring your insurance card and your driverís license with you to every appointment.
